Dr Valéry Malécot is associate professor in Botany at the french National Institute of Horticulture (INH Institut National d’Horticulture), Angers. He works on the taxonomy and nomenclature of wild and cultivated plants such as Adoxaceae, Fabaceae, Euphorbiaceae and his involved on phylogenetic studies on Santalales. His teaching is dedicated to plant morphology, nomenclature and taxonomy. He his member of the IUBS commission on cultivated plant nomenclature. He gives regular advices on plant nomenclature and proposes identification for professionals and amateurs. With C. Chambolle, he write a regular column on cultivated plant naming, origins and culture for P.H.M. He has contributed to the European Garden Flora, and to the to-be-published native french flora. In France, he is involved in several association on systematic (Société Française de Systématique) or botany (Société Botanique de France, Conservatoire des Collections Végétales Spécialisées, Tela-Botanica).
